The SRC ordinance requires residents to “retain waste or trash until pickup and place trash in a receptacle that morning and remove it thereafter.” Residents owning a bear-resistant container are exempt from having to meet this requirement. Bear-resistant containers are available through waste haulers for a quarterly fee depending on the hauler. For Waste Management and Waste Pro, the quarterly fees are $15.95 and $16, respectively. The fee is assessed because hauler drivers have to get out of the truck, open the lid and dump the contents.
Ordinance 2015-14 will take effect by Monday, Dec 19, 2016. Enforcing the ordinance will fall on the shoulders of the county code enforcement department. Ordinance violators will be subject to a $120 fine
